Little Tibet is at the center of a sustainable mobility model aimed to encourage the use of public transport for both incoming and outgoing visitors, thanks to new infrastructures and reduced fares on routes that connect the resort with Lombardy and Switzerland, as well as locally, with a free and efficient transport network.
With the aim of improving the accessibility and facilitating the connections with the province of Sondrio Lombardy and the Canton of Grisons, Livigno takes part in the project Interreg Omnibus 4.0 which allows travelers to purchase a single integrated ticket that combines, train and bus lines managed by different companies at reduced rates. A concrete commitment to improve mobility within and between territories that also includes the construction of infrastructures such as the new Bus Station soon to be built at the Bike Skill Center/Cross Country Ski Center: a strategic location in the heart of Little Tibet, which in summer and winter attracts hundreds of visitors from neighboring areas and beyond.
The advantages for users are many: greater freedom of movement, more travel solutions and affordable prices. For example, the integrated ticket Io Viaggio Ovunque in Lombardia offers, at the daily price of 16.50 euros, the possibility of combining for one, two, three or seven consecutive days of local public transport by bus, train, metro, boat, cable car and funicular within the region.
Those who leave from Milan Central Station can reach in two and a half hours of travel to Tirano train station, where you can take advantage of the connections with the Perego buses that serve the main towns of Alta Valtellina, including Livigno.
Also as part of the Interreg Omnibus 4.0 project, Switzerland has introduced the Graubünden Pass, a ticket at a reduced cost compared to Swiss fares, valid throughout the territory of the Canton of Graubünden and on the routes that connect Switzerland with Valtellina. With the Graubündenpass you have the opportunity to travel several times over the period of time and in the area of your choice, as well as benefiting from numerous discounts at certain ski lifts and on public transport. This is also a good choice for families: an adult can extend the validity of the ticket to two minor children up to 16 years of age.
The Graubünden pass is valid on the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Bernina Red Train, and on the bus lines that lead from Little Tibet to Zernez, Poschiavo and St. Morizt/Pontresina.
These three resorts are also connected to Livigno by three bus lines, which are integrated into the Swiss public transport network: you can reach Livigno from Zurich in only two hours without buying additional tickets.
Once in Little Tibet, travelers can count on a free public transport network to get around the resort. The service, available all year round, is organized on different lines depending on the season. During the summer visitors can count on three bus lines (the green line, the blue line and the line that makes the connection with Trepalle); in winter there is also the yellow line, the red line and the Shuttle Bus Ski Link, the completely free connection between the two sides of the mountain, designed to reach all the main Ski Areas of Livigno. With rides every 15 minutes and an excellent local public transport is efficient, practical, fast and indispensable for getting around the town.
It is also ideal for sports and skiing enthusiasts thanks to the stops at the most famous ski lifts such as Mottolino, Sitas and Carosello 3.000.
In addition to reducing stress to zero and stimulating a slower approach to travel, the model of sustainable mobility promoted by the Little Tibet also winks at the environment, reducing significantly the environmental impact of tourism on the territory: a priority objective for Livigno, a pioneer in the promotion of "clean" means of transport and in the installation of charging points for electric cars and bikes.
