Livigno 20.01.2023 - A historic first time. Accomplice to the cold weather and more abundant snow than in other mountain resorts, everything is ready in Livigno for the highly anticipated Cross-Country Skiing World Cup, a crucial stage for the specialty as witnessed by the presence of all the best athletes in the discipline. A two-day event that becomes part of the history of "Little Tibet," which has always been a reference point for Cross Country Skiing, with Italy finally returning as a protagonist in the world calendar. A true celebration of sport for the champions of the 18 different nations that will compete on the unprecedented Livignano track, but also for the many supporters who have flocked to the streets of the town, thanks also to the many side events scheduled over the weekend. The tricolour hopes are pinned above all on Federico Pellegrino, the spearhead of the national team and veteran of excellent placings achieved in the first days of 2023, which have raised the Italian to 40 podiums in his career, while the luxury outsiders are Simone Mocellini and Francesco De Fabiani, both on the podium in Val di Fiemme. "I am very well, I count on being a protagonist tomorrow." - says the champion from Valle d'Aosta with confidence. "Beating Klaebo in Davos was really good, it had been missing for a while and I did it again.
Competing in Italy is always nice and I always managed to bring out the best in me thanks to the home crowd. Livigno has done great numbers here, also because of everything that has been thought outside the track: big kudos to all the people involved, Cross Country Skiing needs this kind of reality. As it is an unseen track, there will be some nice question marks to replace with nice exclamation points in the Individual Sprint and Team Sprint: we will give our best to entertain the public." It starts today, Friday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. with a parade featuring athletes from the 18 nations in attendance. It will start from the COOP (Via dala Gesa) to arrive in Piazza del Comune where at 6:30 p.m., after the institutional greetings, the presentation of the athletes and the Livigno mascot will begin. The start of the competitions will be January 21 with the
individual competitions. It starts at 10:45 a.m. with the women's and men's Sprint qualifiers until 1:15 p.m., when the finals are held, followed by the awards ceremony. Sunday 22, the second day of competition, features the Team Sprint. At 11:45 a.m. the women's and men's Team Sprint qualifiers valid for the finals, scheduled from 1:15 p.m. As usual, the race ends with the awards ceremony. A sporting event, but not only. A weekend of sports, music and lots of fun.
Great anticipation for the performances of Al Bano and Tananai, scheduled today and tomorrow night, respectively. All accompanied by food trucks and DJ sets signed Radio 105 for the duration of the event.
