Big party in Little Tibet, the home of freestyle, with the Opening Ceremony, music by Dj Antoine and dreams of greatness by baby prodigy Flora Tabanelli

Livigno, 25.03.2024 - If one sees a good day in the morning, one can expect a very special week in the Mottolino snowpark for a Junior World Cup that promises, indeed, sparks. 200 athletes, almost equally distributed between freestyle and snowboard have peacefully invaded Livigno, bringing with them all the future ambitions typical of budding champions and the desire to dream big. A true feast of Nations, with the arrival in the Little Tibet of many different teams, both in terms of history and number of athletes, perfectly in line with the inclusive and engaging culture that has always characterised the freestyle scene. From the traditionally most important federations, such as Canada, the United States, France and Norway, to the expeditions of sportingly emerging countries, which arrived in the resort with small groups but full of passion, such as Iceland, Ukraine or Thailand.

26 nationalities will be represented, with young athletes aged between 14 and 18 years old, who will give life to an edition of the Junior Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships that seems destined to remain in the collective imagination, not only for the people of Livigno but also for the main protagonists on the track, some of whom will probably return to the snows of Little Tibet in less than two years, when they will be awaited by the appointment with a capital A, the Five Circles, called Milan Cortina 2026. And among those who are looking forward both to this intermediate stage and to the great final objective, there is certainly Flora Tabanelli, a rising star of the Italian sport, already twice gold medallist at the Youth Olympic Games and reigning Junior World Champion: a force of nature, who with the creativity of her evolutions, her technical awareness and the simplicity of her smile is doing important things even among the big ones, in her debut season. Great expectations, therefore, for her, part of the Livigno Team, who for the occasion will sport a new helmet, and who yesterday, during the Opening Ceremony, did not hide her excitement for the prospect of competing at home.

The Opening Ceremony was a success in terms of participation and entertainment, with the flag-bearers' parade, the Bersaglieri parade, and the institutional speeches that officially kicked off the event: a party crowned by the enthralling DJ Antoine's DJ set, the star of Livigno's nightlife, who made the whole Piazza del Comune dance to the rhythm of his hits. In the meantime, however, the competitions have already got into full swing, with the slopestyle qualifications, run to determine the finalists who will compete for the world title, on Tuesday 26th. First podiums will then be celebrated, again in Piazza del Comune, again on Tuesday evening, a special occasion where it will also be possible to meet the champions of the Livigno Team, awaited by the embrace of their community. The second prize-giving day, instead, is scheduled for Saturday 30, when the winners of the Big Air will be on the podium. A really dense week full of unmissable appointments and glances at the near future that awaits Livigno. And a week that will be lived also through Casa Italia, present in Aquagranda with CONI, and through the words of Dario Puppo and his guests, live every day from 5pm to 6pm, from a special studio in the centre of the village, and available online on Neveitalia, OA Sport, MyLivignoTv and the social channels of Livigno.
