Competition venues
in Livigno

Livigno was chosen as an Olympic venue for freestyle and snowboard competitions thanks to its well-established sports infrastructure and a territory that has hosted high-level international events for years.
The Milano Cortina 2026 competitions will take place in two main areas, both already well-known in the winter sports scene and specially prepared to meet Olympic standards in terms of safety, accessibility, and logistics.

Livigno Snowpark

Mottolino

The Mottolino ski area will host numerous snowboard and freestyle competitions. The area features permanent facilities for aerial disciplines and technical courses, and it is already a regular venue for World Cup events and international competitions.

Big Air

Freestyle skiing & Snowboard

A competition held on a single large, specially constructed jump. Athletes perform highly difficult aerial maneuvers, judged on technique and execution.

Halfpipe

Snowboard

A discipline that takes place inside a halfpipe made of snow.

Athletes perform a series of jumps and spins, evaluated for amplitude, difficulty, and flow.

Ski cross

Freestyle skiing

A race on a course with turns, jumps, and artificial obstacles.
Multiple athletes compete simultaneously, with timed qualifications and subsequent knockout rounds.

Snowboard cross

Snowboard

A discipline held on a technical course with banked turns and jumps.
Races feature multiple athletes on the course at the same time, with advancement by elimination.

PGS

Snowboard

A discipline on two parallel courses raced simultaneously by two athletes.
The competition takes place in knockout rounds, based on speed and precision of trajectory.

Slopestyle

Freestyle skiing & Snowboard

A technical course made up of rails, boxes, and jumps arranged along the track.
Athletes perform a series of tricks, judged on difficulty, style, and overall execution quality.

Livigno Aerials and Moguls Park

Carosello 3000

The Carosello 3000 area will instead be dedicated to freestyle disciplines that involve jumps and mogul courses.
The natural terrain and existing infrastructure make this area particularly suitable for high-spectacle competitions.

Moguls & Dual Moguls

Freestyle skiing

A discipline held on a course featuring bumps and two jumps.
In Moguls, the event is individual, while in Dual Moguls, athletes compete on parallel courses in head-to-head knockout rounds.

Aerials

Freestyle skiing

A discipline based on aerial jumps performed from dedicated ramps.
Judging takes into account the difficulty of the maneuvers, the height of the jump, and the precision of execution.
