A day with strong symbolic and practical value: the head of Italian sport celebrates the excellence and passion of a place that is already living the Olympic spirit.

Livigno, October 30, 2025 — After yesterday’s highly symbolic “100 days to go” celebration for the 2026 Olympic Games, held across the entire country, the atmosphere in Livigno has become even more charged with energy and meaning, adding special significance to the very first of the one hundred days that separate us from the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.

This morning, Luciano Buonfiglio, the newly elected President of CONI, visited the town — a future Olympic venue and the beating heart of freestyle and snowboard disciplines— which will award here their 26 Five-Ring titles.

A visit with strong symbolic and operational significance, bearing witness to how the journey toward the Games is entering its most exciting phase. Welcoming him, alongside local authorities, were also Federica Pellegrini— Olympic legend, IOC Council member, and true “host” of the AQ1816 Olympic Preparation Center — and Fabio Massimo Saldini, CEO of Simico, the Milano Cortina Infrastructure Company.

After a day like yesterday, the 99th has been just as thrilling. Seeing up close the work that has been carried out for months and is now nearing completion — being here in Livigno is both an emotion and a source of pride” commented Buonfiglio. “This visit gives me the certainty that the athletes will find the best conditions to express themselves. The people of Livigno welcomed me warmly; I saw individuals working with great passion. I want to thank Secretary General Carlo Mornati for his foresight in establishing the high-altitude Olympic Preparation Center and the 50-meter pool. The quality of AQ1816 fully rewards CONI’s commitment to continually invest in this facility.

The tour began at AQ1816, which has long been an important international point of reference for athletes and federations. A place where innovation, sustainability, and sports culture coexist in perfect balance — and one that, over the years, has best embodied the Livigno spirit: a blend of technology and soul, of performance and hospitality. The delegation then visited the Olympic construction sites to see firsthand the progress of the works that will take center stage in the coming season: from the Monte Sponda reservoir — a key element of the technical snowmaking plan — to the Livigno Snowpark, where installation of the new chairlift is nearing completion, and finally to the new Mottolino parking area, which will contribute to smoother and more sustainable access in the years to come.

A journey that gave everyone present a clear sense of a territory that is ready, vibrant, aware of the historic role that awaits it, and determined to embrace it with its trademark spirit — that of those who build excellence day after day.

“Livigno breathes the Olympics every day,” added Luca Moretti, President of Livigno Next. “Thanks to its extraordinary facilities and its culture, which have made it one of the most loved and admired sports destinations in the world. The arrival of the Games is the crowning achievement of this journey, and President Buonfiglio’s visit reminds us just how close that moment truly is.

Livigno, which for years has worked with consistency and vision to integrate tourism, sport, and culture, is now preparing to welcome the most eagerly awaited winter ever — the one that will place it at the center of the sporting world, when the lights of the Games illuminate its mountains.

A countdown that is no longer just a measure of time, but a crescendo of emotions and meaning — the very same emotions that will accompany athletes, spectators, and the community toward a unique moment. Because here, among these valleys, the Olympics have already begun.
