From July 20 to 22, three days of music, ideas, and contemporary perspectives.
Livigno, 25/06/2026 - Less than a month remains until La Milanesiana returns to Livigno. From July 20 to 22, the Alpine resort will host a new stop on the renowned cultural festival, which for more than twenty years has fostered a refined dialogue between disciplines and forms of expression, bringing together leading figures from Italy and around the world.
Conceived and curated by Elisabetta Sgarbi, La Milanesiana reaches its 27th edition this year, exploring the theme "Desire and the Law"—an investigation into the relationship between individual impulse and social norms, between freedom and structure. A delicate balance that shapes identities and relationships alike, making this year's theme especially relevant in today's world.
The programme opens on July 20 with Paolo Ruffini and I Am Perfect – What If Our Next President Had Down Syndrome?, a theatrical production based on his book of the same title. Blending humour with heartfelt emotion, the performance tells the story of twin brothers: Paolo, an ambitious yet disillusioned politician, and Simone, a young man with Down syndrome whose honest and disarming outlook offers a unique perspective on the world. Through a compelling narrative that challenges conventional ideas of power, normality, and authenticity, Ruffini explores the meaning of diversity with emotional depth, inviting audiences to reflect on a theme that is as delicate as it is universal.
On July 21, Irene Grandi will take centre stage with Fiera di me ("Proud of Myself"), an artistic journey that weaves together storytelling and music in conversation with journalist Alessandro Gnocchi, followed by an intimate duo performance with guitarist Leo Di Dante. Featuring a repertoire that spans her most iconic hits to her latest work, the concert is presented in a stripped-back acoustic format that highlights every nuance of Grandi's distinctive voice and musical identity.
This intimate and contemporary reinterpretation, enriched by Di Dante's expressive guitar work, transforms the performance into a deeply moving and engaging emotional experience.
The festival concludes on July 22 with a multifaceted tribute to Franco Battiato, one of the defining figures of Italian music and culture. The evening will open with Regine dei Mondi – Queendoms for Franco Battiato, a project created by Giada Colagrande under the artistic name AGADEZ. Built around voice and percussion, the performance unfolds as an immersive experience, further enhanced by the musical contributions of Antonio Forcione and the other artists involved.
The programme continues with Theo Volpatti's cinematic and photographic contribution, In Beethoven's Footsteps, accompanied by music from Francesco Libetta and featuring a tribute to La Cura. Blending images and sound, the performance creates a dialogue between memory and the contemporary world.
Bringing the festival to a close is L'Alba dentro l'imbrunire ("Dawn Within the Dusk"), the concert by Giovanni Caccamo celebrating ten years of his artistic career. The programme features the songs that have defined his musical journey, compositions written for other artists, and a heartfelt tribute to his mentor, Franco Battiato. Joined by the Orchids Band, Caccamo delivers an intense and deeply personal musical narrative that reflects the depth of his artistic vision.
"We are extremely proud of the journey we have built together with La Milanesiana and of the fact that, year after year, these three days have become increasingly anticipated not only by our local community but also by the visitors who choose Livigno for their holidays," says Sharon Zini, Councillor for Culture and Tourism for the Municipality of Livigno. "La Milanesiana has helped transform July into a true 'month of culture' for our destination, with a programme of events that enriches the area well beyond the festival itself. This partnership has now entered its fifth year, and it continues to create value and surprise us with every new edition."
"
For the past several years, Livigno has marked the final stop of La Milanesiana's journey, which this year began in Crotone. To me, it represents a circle coming to a close—an embrace. It is the culmination of a year's work and, above all, a celebration. That's why we want to celebrate in the best possible way, with three evenings featuring outstanding artists who will share their stories through books and music," says Elisabetta Sgarbi, creator, founder and Artistic Director of the festival. "I'd also like to emphasize that we will close this edition with a tribute to a dear friend of La Milanesiana and an extraordinary artist who passed away five years ago: Franco Battiato. The final evening will be entirely dedicated to him, with no fewer than three tributes by three remarkable artists—Theo Volpatti, Giada Colagrande and Giovanni Caccamo—in a single event."
Against this backdrop, Livigno once again confirms itself as the ideal setting for a cultural programme of the highest calibre—one that engages in dialogue with the surrounding Alpine landscape while enriching the visitor experience and highlighting the destination's contemporary identity alongside its outstanding natural heritage.
