LAKE LIVIGNO
MOUNTAIN WATER
If you want to practice water sports at 1816 meters above the sea, there's a place for you: Lake Livigno. You may bump into rowing teams in high-altitude training sessions and meet relaxed kayak paddlers. But you can also just relax and soak up the Livigno sun.
RESERVOIR, NATURAL ENERGY
In the north of Livigno, straddling Switzerland and Italy, fed by the Spöl – once called Aqua Granda – is a large alpine reservoir: this is Livigno Lake, also known as Lago del Gallo, named after the Ponte del Gallo. Here in the 1960s, a dam was built that has been welcoming visitors arriving from the Munt la Schera tunnel ever since.
This incredible arch dam – 540m long and 130m deep – creates a large reservoir that, at full capacity, contains up to 165 million cubic meters of water producing clean energy used in Italy and Switzerland.
SPORT, SUN, RELAXATION: LIVIGNO LAKE IS ACTIVE
Lake Livigno's power is in its water. You can notice it as soon as you get there.If you hear rhythmic, brisk paddling, chances are you've bumped into a rowing team in a high-altitude training session. If you hear families laughing, they are probably dealing with a 5-person paddleboat. If silence is broken by a sudden splash, it may be a beginner struggling with a kayak or stand-up paddle. If you spot movement on the shore, it's someone walking along the shoreline trail.
After so much energy in action, a bit of relaxation will be good. The Floating Island in the heart of the lake is the right place. It’s a small wooden island where you can dock to sunbathe on deck chairs and benches or take a 360-degree panoramic shot.

PRIVATE BOATS: TICKET AND ACCESS POINTS
In the lake area, respect for nature is utmost: access is allowed only to non-motorized boats and is possible only by purchasing a ticket at the Aquagranda reception desk. Here you’ll get all the information about the access points according to the lake's filling conditions.
Livigno Lake ticket rates:
> Euro 25.00: 1 day
> Euro 40.00: 2 consecutive days
> Euro 15.00 per day: 3 or more consecutive days
Included in the price are information services, and the use of locker rooms and showers at the Aquagranda Active You center. A life jacket is mandatory.
