Livigno Active Challenge
Challenge yourself from 1st July to 30th September

Are you ready to spend your most active summer yet in Livigno?

From 1st July to 30th September 2020, you have the chance to ‘compete individually’ in 6 disciplines on 8 different trails located within the territory of Livigno. On completing one of the challenges, simply send in your results in order to take part in our monthly and seasonal awards.

All the information you need is provided below, so get ready for your challenge!

SO HOW DO YOU TAKE PART?
1. Make sure you download an App which detects the GPS track of the route taken (a sports watch or a smartphone connected to an App like Strava is fine).

2. Choose the challenge you want to do from those below.

3. You’re now ready to start. Simply memorise the route (it will be marked out from start to finish, and at the main bends or turns).

4. Remember to save what you’ve covered.

5. Fill out the form below on completing the trial. Besides personal data, you’ll need to include a screenshot containing all the necessary information in order to validate the challenge (route and time taken). Alternatively, you can share a public link on Strava.

*In order to complete the trial correctly, carefully follow the path marked out from starts to finish. There is no fee to pay for taking part.

The following rankings will be drawn up for each discipline:
>>Best time, both male and female, every month for each discipline.
Prize: sports massage at Aquagranda – Active You.

>>Best time, both male and female, for the season for each discipline.
Prize: weekend for 2 in Livigno to use during summer 2021.

Besides the awards for speed, 5 prize draws for each discipline will be up for grabs each month including daily ski passes, daily bike passes and tickets for admission to the Aquagranda Wellness&Relax area​​.

Downhill and flow trials have draw prizes only.



RACES
“Death track”…400 metres to cover all in one breath on the new athletics track located near Aquagranda – Active You. There are no departure and arrival points marked out on the track for this trial, simply cover the 400 metres as fast as you possibly can.

The classical running race that winds its way through the paths, and over the dirt tracks and tarmac roads of the valley of Livigno. Setting off from the cycle path located behind Aquagranda – Active You, run along the initial stretch of tarmac to the Fior di Bosco area. From here on there is the more more undulating part of the track, with ascents and descents that enable you to admire the landscape of Livigno from a different perspective. Continuing along the path located halfway up the mountain, you reach the Tagliede facility from where you begin the descend towards the area of Calcheira in order to finish by covering the last few kilometres that take you back to Aquagranda.
N.B. Compared to the original competition route, the initial stretch on the state road is not covered in this one.

Setting off from the dairy of Livigno, continue along Bosc Dal Restel to Ponte delle Capre (literally, the bridge of goats) where a 5km uphill stretch begins to Passo Alpisella. The descent to the Lake of San Giacomo starts once you reach the Pass, which you ride along by for a couple of kilometres until the Val Pettini turn. From here, continue along the pathway to cross Val Trela which takes you to Trepalle. This is where you pick up the Tort path leading to the Bosc dal Restel dirt track again, and on to the finish line in the area of the dairy.

Racing bike - Passo d’Eira + Passo Foscagno timed trial

This trial is for you if you’re not satisfied with covering a single Pass only. Starting from the Via Isola roundabout, head along S.S. 301 to the d’Eira Pass first followed by the Foscagno Pass and on to the finishing point.

Livigno Triathlon Sprint

This trial takes place on the original Livigno Triathlon Sprint track, the shortest race in the ICON Xtreme Triathlon event held every year in Livigno. The swimming part takes place in the semi-Olympic swimming pool in Aquagranda. As soon as the first stretch is finished, head out by bike in the direction of the tunnels around Lake Livigno until you reach the customs area. From here, return by following the same route up to the cycle path near Aquagranda. At this point, start running along the cycle path up to the Mottolino/Pont da Bondi area where you return along the same route.

Eas23 is a very smooth route, fast for expert riders and safe for beginners as the average gradient is just 9%. Starting where the Mottolino cable car sets off, it winds around under the facility and on to the overpass of Mottolino’s central (winter) slope. From there, the track joins the North Shore Area with its wooden walkways and a range of obstacles, running on through to the bikepark arrival area.

Carosello 3000 – Top to Bottom
With a difference in altitude of 800m, the Top to Bottom run is to be completed all in one breath, cycling downwards from the Carosello 3000 mountain. An exciting, 6km top to bottom with a range of features guaranteeing enormous fun whilst experiencing a single mountain bike descent to the full.
There are two paths to cover, one after the other. Setting off a short distance from where the Carosello 3000 cable car arrives, Bikers United is a fast smooth trail mixing a prevailing flow-to-spot structure with snippets of enduro. After passing the midway cable car station, bikers head into the woods along the Blueberry Line, a trail that keeps its flow characteristics whilst testing bikers’ technical skills along different stretches.
The overall track comprises rounded curves, parabolic structures on the ground in rapid sequence, wooden structures, a rock garden, bumps and small jumps. The main obstacles can, however, be avoided should a biker not wish to tackle them.
This route includes a refreshment area at both the start and finish points.

ROLLERCOASTER
The rollercoaster is the natural extension of the Coast to Coast trail, tracked out to include a breathtaking view over the lake of Livigno. The track leads to the village from the Costaccia mountain cabin. The track has a number of typical flow features such as parabolic bends, stretches through the woods and a few dashes over gentle slopes.
